A fine example of the sandy terroirs of the northern part of the appellation, this great red wine develops its power with finesse, complexity, and length. Aged on its lees in concrete tanks and demi-muids, it can be enjoyed in its youth, but a few years of cellaring will enhance its aromas.

Vineyard & winemaking

  • Vignoble & vinification Blend: 70% Grenache Noir, 20% Syrah, 5% Cinsault and 5% Mourvèdre
  • Area: 5.7 hectares of vines aged 35 to 130 years for Grenache and 35 years for Syrah and Cinsault
  • Soil: clay-limestone with rolled pebbles for Grenache, sandy for Syrah
  • Methods and winemaking: Hand- harvested and sorted. Destemmed, crushed, and transferred to concrete vats maintained at 25-30°C. Total maceration lasts 25 days, with daily punch-downs and pump-overs four times a week during fermentation, followed by daily lees stirring. The wine is then racked, pneumatically pressed, and racked twice at 48-hour intervals. Malolactic fermentation takes place, followed by racking and blending. After two winters in vats (18 months of aging), the wine undergoes light filtration and is bottled in June.

DégustationBeneath its delicate garnet robe, this great wine expresses spicy aromas of clove, wild pepper, bay leaf, and licorice, mingled with aromas of ripe red fruits, plum, and cherry. The palate is exceptional in its finesse, elegance, freshness, and balance. The finish, with notes of black fruit and tobacco, is very persistent, with beautifully textured tannins that are already well integrated.
